Pineapple Pain
Homemade fudge I made was taken by her
A crush from the choir class
It was the day of my birth
Overall it was an acceptable day
Digital communication has only been over email
Overanalyzing our personal interactions
She doesn’t seem interested in me
Those talks we had usually sweetened my heart
Similar to a favorite drink I consume at flea markets
Now I receive mental headbutts that felt spiky
Reminds me of my time growing produce
It seems like now is a perfect time to start again
CJ The Tall Poet is an editor, poet, digital artist, and author based in Chula Vista, California who’s currently attending Cal State University San Marcos for a degree in Literature and Writing.
